The Jolie-Pitt darlings in No Slippy!!

Although this spotting was in 2007, I can't resist posting it now! After all, Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie are Hollywood's hottest couple and their children are just as important to the tabloids these days. Brad and Angelina were photographed strolling with their daughters, Zahara and Shiloh, in New Orleans in May of 2007. Zahara was given a BopStar BabyMakes3, Big Sister basket from BopStar Baby which contains No Slippy Hair Clips. She is shown here wearing our Shocking Pink Fuzzy Birthday Cake clip! Isn't she just precious!?

Q&A with pediped founder on Footwear News

Angela Edgeworth, the co-founder of pediped footwear, recently sat down with Erin Clack of Footwear News to discuss her newly blooming company and why her shoes really are that amazing.

FN: Pediped turns five this year. Are you surprised by how quickly the company has grown?
AE: Yes, but we were always working hard, so we didn’t have much time to enjoy it and sit back and pat ourselves on the back. [Considering the rapid growth], we quickly revised our plans and goals for the company, and since then, we have been on track — even in the downturn.

FN: What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in growing the company?
AE: With any growth company, finding and hiring the right people is always the biggest challenge. We have been fortunate over the past year to get some great people in sales, marketing and product development. We have gone from just Brian and me to more than 270 people in only a few years, so we are always seeking talented people with experience who can make our company better.

FN: You didn’t have a footwear background when you started Pediped. How did you go about learning the craft of shoemaking?
AE: We hired industry experts and weighed their opinions before we made major decisions, and we combined this with actual real-world testing. Our Originals line was continually modified for more than 18 months before the product was ever ready for market. We had parents providing constant feedback as we evolved the design we ultimately brought to market in 2004. Some of the most valuable advice came from doctors who had recently become parents.

FN: When it comes to baby shoe construction, what are some of the biggest “no-nos”?
AE: I cringe when I see babies in rigid, hard-bottomed shoes — those shoes unnaturally mold their feet. We begin life with unformed bones in our feet and over time, they fuse into the 26 bones we have as adults. This process takes a long time, and shoes that are too rigid or too tight are effectively changing the shape of a child’s foot. This is true of shoes throughout childhood, not just during the baby years. Most experts agree this process of forming the foot bones does not end until you are 25, so children should never be in tight or restrictive shoes.

FN: Why do you use coated leather bottoms on the Originals shoes instead of the more typical rubber?
AE: One big problem we see out there is the amount of rubber used on many first-walker shoes. While grip is great for adults — who push off with every step and have a standard-length stride that is developed over time — new walkers have not figured out their perfect stride length yet. First steps are tentative: Infants do not plant their foot and then push off. Instead, they slide as they take different length strides and learn just how far down the ground actually is. With rubber bottoms, the shoe grips when the sole first hits the ground, so the foot jams forward in the shoe and the child can trip. Our Originals shoes, which have leather bottoms, mimic most closely what it is like to walk barefoot.

These shoes are a must have for babies who have yet to take their first step and tots who are already bolting around the house like lightning. They are a wonderful blend of science and style and every little girl and boy should have a pair.

Oh, and don't forget the matching hair clips of course!

Help bring Lily home and enter to win FABULOUS prizes!

Who doesn't love giveaways? I will tell you who, no one! Absolutely everyone loves free goodies and what better way to win amazing prizes than to donate to a good cause? Well in all honesty the prizes are not free, but they can be yours for as little as $5.00! What is this amazing cause you ask? Well you will be helping to raise money for a deserving family to adopt a little girl from South Korea. This family has dealt with their share of trials and tribulations. They have survived through 6 miscarriages and 2 failed adoption attempts. Adrienne, the mother, writes a blog called Preparing for a Miracle. In her blog she details her life's struggles as well as miracles.

As you know, this past year we lost 2 more babies to miscarriages and now have had 2 failed domestic adoptions. It's hard to believe we've gone through 8 losses since we first started trying to have a baby. Since November, we've felt God tugging us toward adopting a "waiting child.....

Last week, we received the test results from the tests our doctor had requested, and they were normal. We had the answer we had been waiting for. We believe God held baby Soojung for us until now so that we could adopt her as our Lily. She just might be named Lily Soo. :)

So, this week while we were at the beach with Jim's family, I called the adoption agency and spoke with Ms. P, and we have begun the process to adopt our baby girl from South Korea!!

In order to bring Lily Soo home, Adrienne must raise 25,000 dollars! And you can help out by purchasing $5.00 raffle tickets towards donated prizes. She is giving away some really nifty stuff, items ranging from a Canon Rebel XS 10.1 MP Digital XLR Camera to a $25.00 gift certificate for one of a kind No Slippy Hair Clippies! :) Yes, we have donated to this important cause, how could we not? What a beautiful thing to love an orphaned child as your own... it is probably the most gracious gift that a person can give.

So, here's how it works...

*If you would like a chance to win one of the incredible items below, make a $5 donation by clicking on the Bring Lily Home ChipIn (top left of blog under header). Each chance to win is just $5 so you are welcome to try to win more than one item!

*Then, leave me a comment on this blog by clicking on Comments under the item that you are interested in, and then type your comment in the comment box and save it, telling me which item you would like a chance to win. You can also leave me a comment on the ChipIn site and I will put your comment on the blog for the random drawing.

A Generous Review for No Slippy

I reviewed a beautiful little online store called Brea's Baby Boutique a bit earlier this month. The owner is a wonderful mother of two girls and does a really wonderful job with her business as well. I just love the tutu's and petti skirts that she sells, they are extremely charming and a bunch of fun! Anyway, she has just recently wrote a post on her blog about No Slippy Hair Clippy and it is really terrific. She uses our products on her own two daughters, a toddler and a new born, and she has nothing but good things to say. Here is an excerpt:

The No Slippy Hair Clippy does it all! We weren't kidding when we said the name says it all. They actually dont slip! I have been honored to try these AMAZING hairclips for my 2 year old daughter. I dont know about you, but everyday is a constant battle of putting my daughters hair clip back in because it is always sliding out. I might add that my 2 year old loves them. She is always playing in her hairbow basket and the first thing she pulls out our the No Slippy Hair Clippies. Smart Girl, huh? She knows just as well as I that they are designed with your kids comfort in mind.

I am so proud to announce that their baby bows do not leave dents in your sweet baby's head. I can't tell you how my headbands I have for my 3 month old daughter and when you take them off there will be a little dent there. My hubby cringes when this happens! He things I am completely cruel for putting them on our baby girls head! Well, when I showed him her new bows that stay in place and don't leave little marks, he was thrilled!!

Thanks Brea! We are truly humbled by your kind words and promise we will continue striving to create the very best in hair accessories! :)

Birthday Bonanzas

In just two weeks my little niece will turn the big -1- year old. I simply cannot believe how fast time has flown. I remember when she had just been born, she was infinitesimally small. I could fit 10 of her little hands in mine. She was fresh and snuggly and held all the promise that new life affords. And now one year later she is all the more beautiful! She is deserving of the most spectacular of birthday celebrations, alas I will not be in close enough proximity to help facilitate this. So, in honor of my precious little niece, I have written a list of 5 must haves for any one year old birthday bonanza:

1. Buckets of love, you know the good stuff, wet and sloppy!

2. A special birthday outfit: http://breasbabyboutique.com/category_40/Birthday-Outfits.htm

3. A special birthday clippy: http://hairclippy.com/shop_novelty-amber.asp

4. Cupcakes! So much easier than a whole cake and a lot cuter if you ask me. Here is one of my favorite recipes: http://www.marthastewart.com/recipe/polka-dot-cupcakes?lnc=98d20356c0041210VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&backto=true&backtourl=/our-best-cupcakes?lnc=98d20356c0041210VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD&rsc=slideshow_food_our-best-cupcakes&contentid=85cb0000342f0210VgnVCM1000003d370a0aRCRD#slide_1

5. Decorations! The cheesier the better! They will be small enough for silliness for only so long you know.. : http://www.1stbirthdayparty.com/

Happy Birthday to all those little sweet peas turning one this month!

July brings new clippies and patriotic festivities!

Welcome to July folks! This month brings the birth of our independent nation, stunning fireworks displays, yummy barbeque's and a whole lot of time outdoors. While enjoying all that blessed fresh air, there are two things you should try and remember:

1. Do not forget to slather on the sunscreen (liberally)
2. Accesorize with NSHC patriotic bows!

These clips are just too perfect for Independence Day and I recommend them for any little girls 4th of July weekend outfits.

Also for July, our new clip is featured! The Danielyn - Cross Knot Dot Baby Bows. I absolutely love this one, just the right amount of dainty! The Danielyn comes in four rich colors, Shocking Pink (as shown below) Citron, Pink and Lavender.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY AMERICANS! Enjoy the day's festivities and perhaps take a moment to be grateful for the wonderful country that we live in. :)

June 2009 NSHC Press

In this month's issue of Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine, No Slippy's Leah Frayed Flower Clip is featured. It is a wonderfully sunny clip that is perfect for spring and summer and easily warms up any babies outfit.

In the June 2009 addition of Earnshaw's Magazine, No Slippy's Shocking Pink Birthday Cake Princess Bow is featured in a "Life of the Party" segment that showcases birthday party apparel and accessories for children. Our clip is a festive way to adorn your little angel with birthday flair. In my opinion it makes paper birthday hats a gaudy wasteful thing of the past. Birthday barrettes are the future for children's birthday celebrations!

NSHC Press Publications

Today is just one of those days. You know the ones... where your brain went home from work before the rest of you and you are left trying to cope... sans brain. Well, in an effort to spare you the forced dribble of a brainless blogger, I will leave you some cute No Slippy press publications to feast your eyes on instead.

Jodie Sweeten, you remember her don't you? She played Stephanie Tanner on Full House! She has long since grown into a beautiful young woman, a mother herself now. Here she shows off her adorable little girl, Zoie Laurel May, wearing our Polka Dot Bow Headband in Bubble Gum.

This bountiful arrangement of our clippies in Parenting Magazine makes me smile. I like the pink cupcake with sprinkles on top best... yummy enough to eat!

One of our more recent press publications. Seen here in Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine, this little member of the lollipop guild is wearing our Aimee Queen Bow. This girl has sweet taste in hair accessories (insert eye roll here) Hey I warned you, sans brain.. I can't be faulted for bad puns today. :)

Celebs gush about No Slippy!

If you are anyone in Hollywood and you are expecting a little bundle of joy, than you should also be expecting to receive something called a BopStarBaby gift basket. Each basket is personalized for the celebrity couple, (girl or boy) and they even send something special for any brothers or sisters already in the family! (how sweet is that?!) What does all this have to do with No Slippy you ask?

No Slippy Hair Clippy is the exclusive Hair Clip participant in the BopStarBaby, BabyMakes3 Gift Baskets for New Celebrity Parents. No Slippy’s Baby’s First Hair Clippy gift sets are included in all baby girl baskets.

Super celebs such as, Angela Basset, Kevin James, The Priestleys and Brooke Burke have alleged their adoration of the basket and of NSHC products. I just couldn't resist the opportunity to post a few!

“We love our No Slippy Hair Clippies! Josselyn wears them every day … What fun! Thank you so much”

Samantha Harris, BopStarBaby, BabyMakes3 Baskets 2007

“Don’t get me started on the No Slippy Hair Clippy, we have always been faithful customers of theirs – no other clip will do the job.”

Kevin James & Family, BopStarBaby, Holiday Baskets 2007

“When you have a baby girl, you go gaw gaw over barrettes and bows. Talking about making the outfit as well as helping the sweet passerby note instantly boy or girl. Although they may continue to think my son’s a she. Sometimes these unisex outfits can confuse… smile. I love the barrettes + bows for my living doll”

Angela Bassett, BopStarBaby Holiday Baskets 2006

“Ava & I love these clips… for the moment it is the only way people can tell Ava is a girl….”

The Priestleys, BopStarBaby, Holiday Baskets 2007

“(BopStarBaby) .. thank you so much for the creative basket of baby stuff. Loved.. and the hair clips. Baby Rain will enjoy everything”

Brooke Burke, BopStarBaby, BabyMakes3 Baskets, 2007

“… I met the fabulous ladies of No Slippy Hair Clippy at one of the Golden Globe suites here in L.A. They were so sweet and wonderful and it was such a pleasure to meet them in person to personally thank them for creating an amazing hair product…… The best thing about those clips for a baby like Olivia is that with them, there is no question that she is a girl!

All babies all kind of look the same and people don't always know if it's a boy or a girl, so I try to make her look feminine with hair clips. But babies at that age have very little hair, or it's super- fine like in Livvy's case, so no hair clips stay on. With the magnet in the No Slippy Hair Clippy, the hair clip actually STAYS in her hair. It's such a wonderful product and they are such wonderful ladies. Please send them my best!”

Update on Disney XD's "Zeke and Luther"

You might remember from a previous post that our No Slippy model, Ryan Newman is starring in a brand new series, "Zeke and Luther" on the Disney XD channel. Well, this just in: the series will officially be airing on Monday June 15th at 8:30 PM. The Disney Insider just posted a new article and had this to say about Ryan and her integral part on the show:

What do you get when you take two quirky 15-year-old guys, add in a love of all things Tony Hawk, and a desire to be the greatest skateboarders ever? The answer is Disney XD's next big hit show of the summer, "Zeke & Luther," which premieres on June 15. But it isn't just the awesome tricks and cool stunts that make this show worth the watch, there's the surprise role of Ginger, Zeke's younger sister, who brings forth plenty of laughs and throws a little girl power into a show that, on paper, might sound all-boy.

At the grand old age of 11, actress Ryan Newman holds her own in this boy-heavy cast. Adding wit and a touch of sass to the show -- combined with her uncompromising comedic timing -- Ryan makes Ginger a three-dimensional character. Ginger outwits her brother and his best buddy time and time again, as any precocious sister would do. Along the way, she proves herself to be the one in charge -- even when big brother Zeke doesn't know it.

Be sure to tune in, it should be tons of fun for the whole family, not to mention the fact that Ryan will be sporting No Slippy Hair Clips on the show! Congrats Ryan!! Knock 'em dead girl!

Chris Cornell's daughter rocks No Slippy!

The front man of popular rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, Chris Cornell, is one of the biggest stars that rock and roll has ever seen. He boasts an impressive four octave vocal range, (which is pretty cool in case you didn't know) and a charisma and presence that can not easily be duplicated.

These days he is doing solo projects, his most recent album is Scream, and working on his most important venture of all, his family. Chris is married to a beautiful publicist, Vicky Karayiannis, with whom he has 2 children, Toni and Christopher Nicholas.

The popular children's fashion magazine, Baby Couture, published some rockin' photos of the whole Cornell clan (minus Chris' first daughter with ex Susan Silver, Lillian Jean) in their March-May 2009 issue. In these adorable photos, Toni is shown wearing a No Slippy Spider Daisy Headband in Shocking Pink and jamming on a matching pink guitar! :) Like father like daughter...

In this same issue, No Slippy accessories are found again, this time our Organic Large Silk Flower Headband in Pink, is gracing the head of a pretty little girl making some cookies!

Celebrity Sightings!

Who doesn't love Jessica Alba? She is beautiful, sweet, funny, obviously talented and now... she is a new Mommy! So we are thrilled that CelebrityBabyScoop.com has posted pictures of her 3, count 'em 3, different times with her daughter Honor Marie Warren wearing No Slippy accessories.

Also courtesy of CelebrityBabyScoop.com, we have an adorable shot of Danneilynn Birkhead celebrating birthday #2 at Disneyland! Look how enamored she is of Snow White. *awww* Personally, I like Danneilynn's bow better... sorry Snow White, but don't worry, you are still the second fairest of them all. :)

Angela Basset is a peach!

Our very own President and CEO, Annie Salyer, had the privilege of meeting and spending a bit of time with the beautiful Oscar nominated actress, Angela Basset! What's Love Got to Do with it and Waiting to Exhale were such great movies, I spent the entire duration of both films eyes glued to the screen, box of tissues in hand... I know I am a sap, but completely off point. :) Annie had this to say about the Hollywood heavyweight:

I met Angela Basset at the Boom Boom Room. She became familiar with No Slippy products by our involvement with BopStar Baby Celebrity Baby Baskets. She was gifted our clips and fell in love with them, so to meet her in person was a real treat. She’s one sweetheart! She is a genuine person, so down to earth and classy!

Anglela Basset has two children; fraternal twins, Bronwyn Golden and Slater Josiah now a little over 3 years old, who were carried by a surrogate mother. They are incredibly beautiful and always look super happy and well loved. We are so glad to have our clips gracing the head of beauty-full little Bronwyn, no doubt she will grow up to be a shining star just like her Momma!
