Makin' Over Momma

Motherhood is beautiful. But sometimes, the momma isn't! With so much to do and so little time, a lot of mothers have no more time or motivation to bring out their inner goddess. Oh, come on, you know you have it! It would be quite a shame to keep hiding your best side from the world. What a bleak world we'll all be living in if mothers aren't there to brighten it up. Sometimes, all it takes is one uniquely pretty hair accessory (a lot cuter if it matches your daughter's!) and you instantly brighten up both your mood and your look.

Well, since it is No Slippy Hair Clippy's mission to make the world prettier one girl at a time, we figured, why don't we start with the wonderful ladies that those little girls will aspire to be?

I found this article from parenting.com that is loaded with helpful and easy tips for my dear ladies to get your groove back on. Here's an excerpt of De-stress in 5 Minutes or Less:

Take a (virtual) vacation
"I close my eyes and visualize being on a luxury ocean liner," says Alisha Bush, a mom of one in Madisonville, Tennessee. "I feel the rhythm of the waves and inhale the smell of the ocean." (Try it yourself! See, the beach chair's waiting for ya!)

Crank up some tunes
Play music that brings up good memories. "Many people find they have a visceral reaction to something they heard in their youth," says Suzanne Hanser, chair of the Music Therapy Department at Berklee College of Music, in Boston. Choose anything that triggers a positive image, like your wedding-dance song or the music that played during a first date or at the first rock concert you went to as a teenager.

Laugh it off
Numerous studies show that laughter lowers your levels of cortisol, which is a stress hormone. So go ahead and giggle out loud at your husband's bad knock-knock jokes-- it'll make you both feel good.

Rub the right way

No, we're not talking about getting a massage; we're talking about giving one--to your baby. Research shows that when women massage infants, their levels of the stress hormone cortisol drop, which in turn calms them down, says Tiffany Field, Ph.D., director of the Touch Research Institute at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Here's a little more from me:

Glam up! You don't have to channel those Hollywood A-listers to feel like a million bucks. As I said, sometimes, all it takes is that one little detail that makes you stand-out. It could be that heirloom necklace that your grandma gave you, it could be adding a little shimmer on your lips, it could be a unique hair accessory, it could be getting a gorgeous new manicure.

Be bold! Prettify yourself and don't be shy about it! I've noticed that ladies are a little more daring with their choices these days. Headbands with large floral designs and bold colors a la Leighton Meester are all the rage now. Ultra-feminine styles are becoming trendy once again. But be careful not to get too carried away!

So moms, go ahead and get started to beautiful, hopefully stress-free days ahead!

New No Slippy Products for Fall!

We have some wonderful new products coming out this fall! Just in time for your Holiday shopping! Expect to see all of the items listed below available for purchase at the end of October at: www.hairclippy.com.

Baby’s First Hair Clips® and Baby’s First Bows®!

This new mini clip is specially designed for the very finest newborn baby hair. It measures a tiny 1 1/4 inches long, that's 1/2 inch less than our standard alligator clip. This mini clip features the same make as all of our other magnetic, velvet lined hair clips, just with a fraction of their length.
3-packs will include several new tiny grosgrain bows in an assortment of popular colors, and 2-packs will offer fashion assortments. These mini hair clip trios are such a wonderful gift idea for someone you love!

Hand-Made Hair Clip Holders!

Any Mom with a little girl out there knows that keeping their little clips from getting lost is a mission! For that matter, any women who uses hair clips/bands/pins knows of this issue. They are small and easily misplace-able. No Slippy has solved this problem with hand-made hair clip holders. Their are two unique design styles that will fit into any girls room:

1. Pale pink, monogrammed and trimmed in chocolate brown grosgrain ribbon
2. Bright pink/turquoise/lavender stripes with a ballet slipper
appliqué, trimmed in fluffy pink marabou and lavender ribbon.

These hair clip holders will be debuting online and will be available for purchase in retail stores around Spring of 2010.

Monogrammed Buttons!

These buttons will be covered with fabric of two different color schemes. We have chosen 15 of the most popular first initials and monogrammed them to the button! It is a wonderful way to personalize your daughter's hair accessories. These adorable buttons will be available on these new clippies:

1. A
lime green monogram on a hot pink/white mini dot fabric-covered button on a lime green hair clip.
2. A hot pink monogram on a chocolate brown/white mini dot fabric-covered button on a hot pink hair clip.

These monogrammed buttons will also be available in the centers of our gerbera daisies hair clips. These daisies are beautiful, fluffy and feel extremely real to the touch. These daisies will also be decorating our signature cotton head wraps!

NSHC reviewed by "Coffee with the Mrs."

Coffee with the Mrs. is a blog written by a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom) named Amy. She is the mother of an adorable toddler, a little boy named Alex and is pregnant with a little girl who is due in November. Her blog is a place to "chat over coffee". She writes about her life and amusing anecdotes but the main focus of her blog is given to reviews that she writes relating to all things baby. She has reviewed children's movies, children's clothing, glasses, etc... She has recently taken the time to review a few NSHC products and has posted her review here on her web page: http://www.coffeewiththemrs.com/

Here is some of the lovely things she had to say:

I have had so much fun finding adorable things for my little girl to wear after she’s born but remembered how much trouble friends were having keeping clips in their daughters’ hair. I wanted to find something cute for my daughter’s very first pictures but decided that maybe I would have to be creative or settle for something that may not stay in her hair.

Thank goodness I found the No Slippy Hair Clippy. These hair clips are pure genius and are sure to stay in anyone’s hair. Also, they’re handcrafted and each one shows the attention to detail it received.

I looked through the baby headbands to use with my baby girl’s birth announcement picture and chose this one.

DSCN0344This is the 2” Flower with Sequins on an Organdy band and sells for $9.00. It’s made for babies 0-6 months old so we’ll get plenty of use out of it. I love how delicate and sweet it looks.

Thank you Amy! Good luck with your new little girl!
